Frequently Asked Questions
Do you only adopt within the DFW metroplex?
While we love our DFW and Texas homes, we love the opportunity to get dogs out of our overpopulated state! Out of area adoptions are 100% allowed, transport must be arranged by the adopter. We recommend traveling to us to meet your pup prior to adoption!
Can I foster to adopt?
Absolutely! The primary goal of a foster is to prepare the pet for its forever home. If during your time fostering, you fall in love with your foster, simply let our team know and once all vetting is complete, you may officially adopt your foster. Our fosters are our #1 priority. All adoption guidelines and fees will apply.
What are your adoption fees?
Our adoption fee's vary based on the age of the dog and include spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormer, HW test (treatment if applicable), and microchip. Dogs under 5 months of age will come with a spay/neuter contract. Beginning January 1st 2025:
Dogs under 1 year are $450.
Dogs 1 year to 5 years are $400.
Dogs 6 years to 8 years are $300.
Dogs 8 years plus are $150.
Flat-faced breeds (brachycephalic) are $500
Sponsored dogs have generously been covered partially or entirely.
Please also consider that our expenses are much more than are fees! Many of our dogs go through surgery, dental care, injury or illness expended, heartworm treatment, parasites, UTI’s and the list goes on. This also includes the cost of our website, Jotform, Docusign, mailing services, etc.
Thank you!
What is pre-adoption?
Some of our dogs and puppies may be eligible for pre-adoption. In these cases, a pet is open to adoption applications and may move into a selected home while they complete their last few steps such as receiving vaccines and/or getting spayed/neutered which are completed at our vet. After the pet receives all necessary care, the adoption will be completed and finalized at that time.
Can I meet one of your adoptable pets?
Our dogs are in private foster homes. If your adoption application is selected, a meet and greet will be arranged with the current foster. We will also have some available to meet at adoption events throughout the year, which will be posted on our Facebook page!
Do you adopt to people in apartments?
Yes! We will request proof of your apartment’s pet policy and/or proof of a valid ESA letter provided by a medical professional. As long as your pet is allowed by your apartment complex, and the pet you are applying for would do well in that environment, we would love for them to come home with you! Some of our dogs are not suitable for apartments, but this is determined based on the specific dog, not based on breed. We have had German Shepherds and Pitbulls who do extremely well in apartments, and small breeds who need a backyard.
Why don’t you adopt out siblings?
While in theory, it sounds like a great idea to have two puppies of the same age to grow up and entertain each other. However, we have experienced multiple dogs who have been victims of Littermate Syndrome. We do not adopt out siblings to avoid Littermate Syndrome, which can occur when siblings, or two puppies of the same age, grow up together. Puppies with littermate syndrome become highly dependent on one another. Symptoms can include excessive crying, whining, and destructive behavior when siblings are separated.
Will I know if my application was approved or denied?
Due to a high volume of applications, we are not able to contact all applicants who were not selected. Not being selected does not mean that you are a denied adopter. We can only choose one home per dog. We also are not able to notify all denied submissions of their status. If you have any questions about the status of your application 48 hours after submission, you may text or email us for more information!
